Cat Clinic of Cobb Adoption Policy
In an effort to do our part to control over-population in the feline community and to help find safe homes for the homeless, the Cat Clinic of Cobb provides this adoption center for kittens. All of the cats in our adoption center have received the following medical treatment:
?A negative blood test for both Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus
?A fecal check for intestinal parasites and deworming if indicated
?A first set of vaccinations for Feline Distemper and Upper Respiratory Viruses
?A flea bath
Adoptees are made available at a charge of $45.00 to responsible owners, with the provision that the prospective owners are over twenty-one years of age, residents of the State of Georgia and able to sign a contract promising to provide appropriate care in an inside environment for their cat. Adoptors agree to complete their cats' vaccinations and have them spayed or neutered before they reach six months of age. Adoptors who fail to comply with the contract terms must make a $200 donation to the Humane Society of Cobb County to fight pet overpopulation. The responsible party must sign the agreement; kittens are not to be given as gifts to third parties.
The staff of the Cat Clinic of Cobb wishes to emphasize that there is no such thing as a free pet. Adoptors of a kitten should expect to spend from $400 to $900 during the first year of its life, including such costs as vaccinations, spaying or neutering, declawing, litterbox and supplies, and food. Maintenance costs for an adult cat average between $150 and $200 per year, and many cats are now living 20 years. Please be sure that you are ready for such a responsibility before considering adoption. The life of a cat could depend on you!
